Quick Start Guide – Getting Started

Registration: Signing up for Learn Share Act is easy and completely free.  Click on the “Sign Up” button and then enter an easy to remember Login Name and a valid email address. Under “Full Name” enter your name or your desired “Screen Name” and since this is the basis for your entire account, this can not be changed, so use your name or a screen name you’ll be able to live with going forward.

Then tell us a bit about yourself under “About You.” Don’t worry, you can edit your “About You” later. Most people like to upload a picture of themselves (which you can also change later if you like) and then enter an easy to remember Password.

Next the form asks if you want to create a Blog (why not, it’s free too!). Then on the next page create a name for your blog and then you are off and running. To complete the registration, simply go to the email address used when filling out the form, open up the Activation Email from Learn Share Act and click on the link to activate your account and then login using your Login name and password.

Now that you are logged in how about a quick tour of your profile page and some of the site’s features?

My Account:If you haven’t already entered your Login Name and Password to log in please go ahead and log in. Then on the green upper Navigation Bar at the very top of your browser window select the “My Account” button and then “Activity” and then “Just Me.” Now we’ll give you a tour of all the options under the “Me” section.  Let’s start at the top of the list under the “Me” section and work our way down:

Activity: This is where you can go to see your and your friends’ wire posts, blog posts, blog comments, new friendships, photos, etc. This is a fun place to check out what’s going on and who’s doing and saying what.

Profile: Here you can see and edit your public profile. If you want to change your picture click on the “Change Avatar” link just to the left of your photo.

Blogs: Here you can see your recent Blog, Blog Posts and Comments people wrote about your Blog Posts. However, to write a new Blog post, go back up to the green upper Navigation Bar at the very top of your browser window select the “My Blogs” button and then “Admin” and then “New Post.” The Dashboard is also a popular choice as from there you have complete control over your Blog. For a more detailed guide please visit Quick Start on Blogging.

Wire: The wire is a place where friends and other members can come along and post messages to your profile page, groups and photo galleries (coming soon). You can also update your own wire so people that visit your Public Profile page can see what you are thinking about or doing. Your friends will see your wire updates when checking their friends Activity.

Messages: Learn Share Act offers an internal site email system so you can message people on your friends list as well as forward and reply to received messages. The system will send an email to your email address on file to alert you to new internal messages by default. You can easily disable this, if you wish, by going to “Settings” and “Notifications.”

Friends: It’s fun to share with others, so be sure to send some friendship requests to people that look interesting to you. Start off by browsing the “Members” list and then you select “Add Friend.” Once they accept your Friendship Request then they will appear on your Friends list so you can message them and exchange thoughts and ideas.

Groups: Groups are a place where you can interact with other members. Start off by browsing the “Groups” list and then you select “Add Group.” Then dive in and participate. You may want to join the “New Users” group to get started.

Settings: You can change your password, edit your email notification settings or cancel your Learn Share Act account here.
