Faith and Scare

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

Yesterday something intentional, horrific, thoughtless happened. Air-Force One  look-alike flew very low over Manhattan for a photo shoot. Many things will be written about this insensitive event-to say the least-from is advertising everything? to why were state officials like Bloomberg not notified–because he would have said “Hell no” .

But I’m gonna try to take a different spin on being scared to death. Is it ever the right way to handle faith situations and scare someone into “believing” ?I think not! Those Manhattaners did not need that scary situation to bring them to God. If God, or their higher power, was not already present in their lives they would not have turned to Him in their time of panic. Panic has no room in spirituality. Panic doesn’t help us grow…hard times yes, but not panic. When I feel panic and scared I only want to crawl under my covers and cuddle with my pillow. It has never motivated me into action. Be motivated to grow not through fear but through love.” For God gave us not a spirit of fearfulness; but of power and love and discipline. “(2 Timothy 1:7) American Standard Version
Oh President Obama, we all make mistakes-Please don’t use fear to persuade our nation. Your administration is better than this and we deserve you to step and be the best.  For those Manhattan citizens that witnessed this horrible advertising prank–My heart goes out to you with love. I’m sorry you were fearful.

Authenticity vs Green Washing

Sunday, March 15th, 2009

Authenticity is something we should strive for in our lives as spiritual and emotional beings.. Authenticity is a new buzz word in the going green enviroment. Make sure you are dealing with Authentic Green companies, not companies that say they are Green when actually they are Green washing. Try to do your homework. That’s the best we can do!

I want to start a green blog of “isms”

Sunday, March 8th, 2009

I love to think about the days when my mother and father would say things like..”I’m the parent that’s why”  “If you’re really hungery you will eat it”…”they can take everything away from you but no one can take away your education”…”Your eyes must be bigger than your stomach” Yep I grew up  hearing these things but not always knowing the underlining meaning. The last one about your eyes being bigger than someone’s stomach I thought I did know what that meant. I thought it meant I put too much food on my plate and I wasn’t prepared to eat it all. Well on one level that is what it means but it also could mean I put too many “things” in my life that I’m not prepared to give them all the attention that each of them deserve. But maybe a little simpler interpetation is that I bought too many groceries last week and now I have to clean out the refrigerator to get rid of the products I didn’t use.. I wasted money, refrigerator space and gave those grocers  the false sense  of demand. Now that I am a little wiser I need to ” Have what I want but want-(or use) what  I got”. What is your green “ism” please share it with me!

Faith and Enviroment

Saturday, January 17th, 2009

I do think faith and enviromentally choices can co-exist. I think it may be the ultimate act of love and respect to our Creator-God. Oh I know all the rocks will cry out if we do not praise him…but we also need to “Honor our Father and Mother that we may live a long life”… Could God have meant that as a double meaning. Not only should we honor our biological mother and father, but also our earthly parents–Mother Earth.
