Changing the paradigm…Women! You are beautiful just the way you are!
Tuesday, February 10th, 2009Women! My challenge to you is to start thinking for yourselves. It is time women stop allowing advertisers and hollywood to think for them. Time to grow up and allow our bodies to grow up, too. Hollywood and pharmaceutical companies have been telling us that we are never thin enough; Hollywood out of its insecure nature and pharmaceutical companies out of greed. Why is it that our culture allows men to age gracefully, but demands women keep child-like bodies. We know that it is not natural for most women to be curveless, yet we heed obsurd advice on how to stay paper thin. More and more teen-age girls are experiencing developmental deficiencies due to their successful attempts at being the thinnest. This is a sick obsession.
In the last few decades the women’s movement has seen success in the area of jobs, but the general oppression of women has just shifted from the area of jobs to the body. Our culture seems to insists on oppressing women in one way or another. This shift to the oppression of women’s minds through body perception has been brilliantly accomplished with and through the permission of women. It is time for us to become consciously aware of how we have been manipulated by our culture to think we are our bodies and to think our bodies are not good enough. We are intelligence that use our bodies as we please. Let us become conscious of our natural intelligence and use it to break free of this absurd paradigm. Healthy is good and healthy comes in many different shapes and sizes. Let us respect ourselves and change the skinny paradigm to a truly healthy paradigm.
